Description
PLEASE NOTE: This is a seed packet
The flavour of these pods has been likened to asparagus. The plants produce deep red flowers that are followed by masses of winged pods. Pods are ready for harvest when approx. 2.5cm (1″) long.
Sow outdoors thinly where they are to crop, 2.5cm (1″) deep directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Delay sowing if soil is still cold. Allow 45cm (18″) between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Thin seedlings to 30cm (12″) apart. Water well until plants are established. Two or three sowings will provide a successional crop. Provide cloche protection or delay sowing if soil is cold.
Pick regularly to encourage further pods to form. Top and tail pods then boil or steam.
