Description
The Cauliflower Aalsmeer is a tough little plant that can survive even the harshest winters. It has attractive deep and firm white curds that provide an excellent source of vitamin C and folate. For gardeners trying to plan their produce, this plant is one of the first ‘spring’ cauliflowers to appear.
Sow the seeds indoors, deep, in a tray of compost. You will need to water them well and place them in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse. The seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Transplant the seedlings 5cm apart to other trays when large enough to handle. Acclimatise the plants gradually to the outdoors before planting out. This plant can be sowed outdoors but will need regular good watering to be successful. Pick up a packet from your local garden centre today.
