Hello September! While we enjoy the last of this years warmth, thereโ€™s plenty to do in the garden this month including harvesting crops and tidying.

Here are some other top gardening jobs for this month…

๐ŸŒฟ Continue to feed and dead-head container and hanging basket plants.

๐ŸŒฟ Now is a good time for dividing perennials.

๐ŸŒฟ Prune any late flowering shrubs.

๐ŸŒฟ Keep harvesting crops.

๐ŸŒฟ Cut bean and pea plants to ground level once they have finished cropping. Leave the roots which will slowly release nitrogen back into the soil as they break down.

๐ŸŒฟ Pick any ripe apples. They should come away easy with a gentle pull when they are ready.

๐ŸŒฟ Feed your lawn with an Autumn lawn fertiliser.

๐ŸŒฟ Cover ponds with netting ready to catch falling leaves.

๐ŸŒฟ Plant Spring flowering bulbs.

๐ŸŒฟ Keep a check on the weather forecast for any early frosts and be ready to move any tender plants under cover.

๐ŸŒฟ Take down greenhouse shading as light levels start to fall.

๐ŸŒฟ Improve clay soil before it becomes too wet by digging in some organic matter and horticultural grit.
